Testing Information

All students at Cherokee Charter Academy are required to participate in mandatory state testing. We encourage families to avoid scheduling appointments during testing and ask for help ensuring students are ready to do their best (a good night's sleep, a healthy breakfast, encouragement, etc.).

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA)

Given to all Kindergarten students to measure each child's school readiness.

First 45 Days of School

The KRA must be given within the first 45 days of the school year. SCVCS typically gives the KRA in October at various sites throughout the state.

Gifted and Talented Assessments - CoGat and lowa

Given to all 2nd grade students to measure students' aptitude and achievement.

Oct. 7-15, 2025

CogAT and lowa will be given at various sites throughout the state in late October/early November. Testing takes 2 days to complete.

Gifted and Talented Assessments - Performance Tasks Assessments

Given to students identified by the state in grades 2-5.

The state testing window is February 17 - March 13, 2026.

Locations and dates will be determined based on who is selected by the state.

Can Opt Out

ACCESS for ELLs

Given to any student who is identified as an English Language Learner to determine English proficiency.

Jan. 21 - March 6, 2026

Locations will be determined based on who needs to test. Testing takes places in February or March.

Given to all students in Grades 3-8. Students will take an assessment is reading, writing, and math.

Given to all students in Grades 4-8, Students in grades 4, 6, and 8 will take a science assessment. Students in Grades 5 and 7 will take a Social Studies assessment.

Testing will occur in May at various sites throughout the state. There will be 1 day of testing for SC Pass.

EOCEP

End-Of-Course examinations. Given to high school students for specific courses.

Fall Semester Dates:
EOC English II Writing  - Dec. 10 ,2025
EOC English II Exam - Dec. 16, 2025

Spring Semester Dates:
HS Exams May 12-15, 2026

Testing occurs the last 15-20 days of instruction, depending on subject area.
