Welcome to CCA, Mr. Teague!

CCA Staff and Families,

I have had the privilege of serving as a building level school administrator for over 26 years. I can honestly say my time at Cherokee Charter Academy has been the most rewarding time of my career. I am so incredibly proud to say in only our fourth year of operation, CCA is the top-performing public school in Cherokee County. And we are only getting started. As with life, timing is everything and we must make the most of our days on this earth.

I informed our Board of Directors at our meeting on January 18th that I planned to step away from my position as school director at the end of this school year, in order to take on a new role as a regional superintendent. Serving in a role where I can support a collection of schools has been a long term goal of mine. Thankfully, that opportunity has presented itself and I am excited to take on this new adventure. In my new role, I will have the privilege of continuing to directly support the short and long term success of CCA, as well as our two current sister schools, Greenwood Charter Academy and Libertas Academy in Boiling Springs. I am grateful for the relationships I have fostered with our students, staff, and families and look forward to supporting the continued success of CCA.

I am fully committed to finish this school year strong and help support the transition to a new school leader. I am also excited and fully support the Board's hiring of Mr. Brad Teague as the new school director effective July 1, 2024. Mr. Teague is an award-winning leader as the former state Principal of the Year in the state of North Carolina. Mr. Teague has significant experience as both a middle and high school principal, which will be invaluable as CCA expands to include high school grades. I have no doubt he will be a great fit for CCA!

You will be receiving more information in the near future, including future opportunities to meet Mr. Teague as we transition over the next six months. This isn't goodbye - this is simply the new step in the great journey that is Cherokee Charter Academy. I look forward to many more years in the future working and supporting CCA and our sister schools.

All my best,

Jason Byrd
