Cherokee Charter Academy (CCA) is working with the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina (PCSASC) to hold this year’s election process. This ensures integrity and confidentiality in the process.

 

The governing board consists of ten (10) total members; five (5) elected and five (5) appointed seats. Two (2) elected seats and two (2) appointed seats are currently up for election, each for a two-year term.


April 12th, 2024:  Call for Board Candidates will be distributed to the public by the school. Each prospective board member must complete an online filing form.

April 22nd, 2024:  Filing period ends. Acceptance of candidate filings will be closed at 12:00 pm (Noon).

April 24th, 2024: Candidate profiles will be posted online.

May 2nd, 2024:  Voting open with e-ballot links emailed to each parent/guardian and employee of Cherokee Charter Academy. Voting will open on 7:00 am on May 2nd and close at 6:00 pm on May 2nd. here is one vote per child enrolled in the school and one vote per employee. Each ballot will have a unique pin number to ensure confidentiality and integrity of the process. Computers will be available at the school during normal school hours for those that may need additional assistance in voting.

May 3rd, 2024: No later than this date election results will be certified and announced publicly. School board members will be announced publicly.

 June 2023: Newly elected board members will take office and be formally sworn in at the first regularly scheduled board meeting. This will complete the election process.


Meeting and Training Requirements:

Cherokee Charter Academy Board Members are required to attend all board meetings.

 Mandated Board Training – Per state law, all board members are required to attend board training within 1 year of being elected. Free trainings will be offered by the South Carolina Department of Education.
