Director's Message
Dear CCA Community,
May was a busy and rewarding month of learning and excitement. The positive news is spreading about our award winning and highest achieving public school in Cherokee County. We are growing daily and already have over 140 new students starting their Patriot journey next school year!
We finished our school year by recognizing the extraordinary accomplishments of our students during each grade level awards day. We also highlighted our arts program as our kindergarten students put on a musical that amazed us all! We wish our families a safe and happy summer break!
Please share the news of our open enrollment for NEW students in grades 4K through 9th grade for next school year. The enrollment portal for students 4K-9th grade may be found here, but are also on the main page of our website via the Enroll Now button. The best way to guarantee a spot and not be on a waitlist is to go ahead and enroll them for THIS CURRENT school year. Have them drop by or schedule a school tour today! We have limited space in most all grade levels so have them get in touch soon!

GaGa Ball!
Thank you, PTO and Coach Greene for providing new opportunities for our students. Our PE classes have enjoyed playing GaGa ball over the last few days. Coach Camp and Coach Greene provide PE every day to all students. We know that active bodies create active minds for learning!

Our 5th Grade Author's Tea celebration was a hit! The turnout was impressive, and our students were delighted to display their literary prowess. We extend our gratitude to Author Katie Linder for joining us and sharing her book 'Stink Saves Halloween', which was a resounding success with our students.

May 2024 Core Virtues News Core Virtue for May: Joy To arrive in May—at long last May!—is to rejoice. May in the northern hemisphere has historically been a time for festivity associated with spring. May poles, May flowers, Mother's Day, and May crownings all speak to a tradition of new life and hope renewed. As spring asserts itself, we live in greater wonder at the world around us, and flights of fancy soar. Core Virtues celebrates that. Year One leads with hope and joy because parents and educators—who are responsible for forming the next generation of citizens—have a special responsibility to nurture the hope of our children and feed their delight in the gift of life. A great deal in our culture and media conspires to turn children to cynicism and contempt. At Core Virtues we showcase the virtue that gives spring to our step, and acts as a catalyst for positive change and a brighter future. In the field of psychology a great deal of work has been done on the dimensions and importance of hope. Dr. Tomasulo's 2020 book, Learned Hopefulness (featured below) summarizes the research and pathways. If we teachers and parents are looking for other ways to enhance our own sense of hope and joy, read the reflections psychologist Benjamin Hardy here and for kids, check out Hopeful Minds Curriculum at https://hopefulminds.org. |
